In another surprising twist of videogames seeping into the "real" world, in the latest issue of Nature, a scientific journal, Pier Paolo Pandolfl of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center labeled a particular gene believed to cause cancer - POK Erythroid Myeloid Ontogenic geNe - as Pokemon.

In response, Pokemon USA (a subsidary of Nintendo) has threatened to file suit against the scientists if they continue to link the gene to one of Nintendo's most popular franchises. The scientists have now renamed the gene "Zbtb7", which obviously is nowhere near as exciting (or cute) a title as Pokemon.
